David Rogers' Big Bugs
David Rogers’ Big Bugs exhibition has been touring public and private botanical gardens and nature centers since 1994 in the United States. Many botanical gardens and nature centers have a difficult time building new membership, increasing existing membership participation, and building awareness of their mission. David Rogers’ Big Bugs works to help solve these issues by inviting the public into these institutions and educating people about the importance of both preservation and conservation.
The exhibit has been shown in 40 states across the Unites States since it’s debut in the summer of 1994 at the Dallas Arboretum. The exhibit includes giant sculptures of insects such as ants, bees, praying mantis, dragonfly, grasshopper, butterfly, and more. The sculptures are made from different kinds of wood such as willow, black walnut, and red cedar and are about the size of small airplanes.
